2019 was the year of Hanamaru costumes. I really connected with Hanamaru, she’s a sweet idol who wants nothing more than to watch her friends succeed. While this costume is a bit out of character for her it looked so cool I couldn’t help but make it!<\/p>\n

I started this costume by making the skirt and short combo. I don’t make pants frequently so this was a fun change (and it makes it so easy to move around in)! The skirts are made of custom printed fabric that I designed and had printed on SpoonFlower<\/a>. I had so much fun picking trims for this costume! The gold trim is thick cording and the lace was found on Etsy. The bodice is made like a real jacket – it has a felt stability layer and a hidden welt pocket! I used the matte pleather from the Yaya Han collection and LOVE the way it looks! The gold embroidery like details are soutache braid – a fun new technique I learned for this project! Another fun note: All the studs were hand placed!! <\/p>\n

My favorite part of this costume is the long train! It makes me feel so cool and elegant! I have a hidden hook that keeps it off the ground at cons and when I take it off for photos people are always so impressed! My wig is a Ferrari in Sandy Brown from Arda Wigs. The boots and gloves were found on Amazon and the belt buckle, glove emblems and hat decal were 3D modeled by myself.<\/p>\n
