Princess Serenity

When I heard that Sailor Moon activities would be happening at AX 13 I knew I had to make an impressive moonie costume to bring with me! As a child my favorite episode of Sailor Moon was always the one where Usagi discovers she’s the princess, so making Serenity seemed like the perfect choice.

I based this costume off a mixture of the anime and manga. I wanted to create a ethereal flowy look so I created the dress from white chiffon! The skirt is two full circle skirts and ended up using almost an entire bolt of material! The bodice is made of satin that was heavily interfaced, then I attached all the pearl beads by hand. This was a long process but was totally worth it in the end.

My favorite part of this costume is the long train and cape!  Love being able to swoosh all the fabric behind me and it makes me really feel like a princess! The wig is an Arda Chibi and two Long Clips in Light Blonde that was styled by me using the styrofoam method. The small Moon Stick is the Proplica and the large Moon Stick is made of PVC and Insulation Foam.

For Kumoricon 2013 I was joined by Princess of Tea Cosplay as Luna and Dragonfly Fashions as Queen Serenity. For Sakuracon 2014 I was able to recreate this dress for my sister as Chibi Usa. The dress was constructed in the same way. The wig is also a Chibi with two Clips in Rose Pink.
